The Bucket Test

The Bucket Test is an easy test to see if you are losing too much water in your pool. If you are, you may possibly have a leak.

The Bucket Test:
Bring water to normal operating level usually the middle of the skimmer or tiles.

Place a bucket filled with pool water on the top step of the pool.
Mark the water level on both the inside and the outside of the bucket.
The starting point levels should be the same.
Check the mark 24 hours later.

If there is a greater drop in the line on the outside of the bucket, a leak in the pool is indicated and it is time to call All Pro Leak Detection.

Please note that during the middle of the summer season you will lose water from evaporation. This is a normal occurrence you can experience from 1” to 2” of water loss in 1 week due to evaporation, children splashing, and filter backwashing. This amount will normally occur when the temperature is in the high 80’s to 90’s, less when it is colder.
